Pet-Friendly Vermont
A fully fenced backyard, quiet country roads, and Vermont trails in every direction. Kilbourne is a Vermont chalet built for the way dog families actually travel — without the anxious calls about damage or the hunt for the one hotel in town that will take your 70-pound companion.
Why Dog Families Keep Coming Back
A real fenced yard — not a decorative railing. Your dog can run off-leash while you read on the deck or start the fire. One of the hardest-to-find features in a Vermont vacation rental.
Merrill Drive and the surrounding residential streets are low-traffic. Great for morning walks on-leash without the stress of ski-traffic Killington Road.
Leash-friendly trails on the Long Trail and Appalachian Trail are minutes away. Killington Resort's green-season gondola allows leashed dogs (check current policy). Sherburne Trails network is close.
No size cap, no breed restrictions. Bring the golden, the great dane, the rescue mutt — they're all invited. For multiple dogs or particularly large breeds, just message before booking so we're prepared.
A proper mud room at the entry. Perfect for wiping paws after a muddy trail run or a snowy afternoon — before they hit the great room carpet.
Several nearby restaurants welcome dogs on their outdoor patios (Rivershed, Liquid Art patio, Outback Pizza outdoor seating). Dinner with your dog at your feet is entirely possible in Killington.

What to Know
Well-mannered dogs are welcome in any reasonable number. For multiple dogs or particularly large breeds, please message before booking so we're prepared — nothing is off the table, we just like to know.
Yes — a standard pet fee applies. The exact amount is visible when you book on your preferred platform (Airbnb, VRBO, or Expedia) and is factored into your total. No surprises at check-in.
Two simple things. (1) Dogs should be leashed outside the fenced backyard — the front yard, driveway, and walks all count. (2) Guests are responsible for any damage caused by their pet, including to flooring, walls, trim, and exterior grounds. We've had hundreds of dog guests and damage is rare — just keeping it explicit.
The mud room at the entry is purpose-built for this. Wipe paws there before the great room. A towel for the dog is a good thing to pack; we also keep a stash on-site.
